Write a letter to the college director. In your letter:
- say what you enjoy about your course
- explain the current problems with the social club
- suggest some specific changes that could be made
Write at least 150 words.
Dear College Director,
My name is Alex Chen, and I am currently enrolled in the Advanced English course at your college. I am writing to express my immense satisfaction with the academic programme, and also to offer some suggestions regarding the social club.
Firstly, I would like to commend you on the exceptional quality of the teaching here. My instructors are not only knowledgeable but also incredibly engaging, and the communicative approach used in our lessons has significantly improved my fluency and confidence. The small class sizes create a supportive atmosphere that is highly conducive to learning.
However, while the academic side is excellent, I feel the social club could be enhanced to better support our language practice. Currently, many of the activities, such as film nights, do not actively encourage conversation. Consequently, students often congregate in groups with others from their own country, missing valuable opportunities to practise English in a relaxed, informal setting.
To address this, I would like to suggest a few changes. Perhaps a weekly "Conversation Café" could be established, where students are organised into small, mixed-nationality groups to discuss specific topics. Additionally, a language exchange partner scheme, pairing learners with different mother tongues, could be highly beneficial. Introducing a debate club or a book club would also provide a more structured environment for students to use their new skills.
Thank you for considering my feedback. I am confident that with a few adjustments, the social club could become an outstanding resource for all students.
Yours sincerely, Alex Chen
